There are questions you don’t usually hear on a Monday morning.
The kind that make you pause. That land somewhere deeper. That stay with you.
And maybe—even change everything.
Today, I have one of those for you:

Not at the end of your career.
Not when your LinkedIn profile goes into retirement.
But today. Tomorrow.
What lingers when you leave the room?

In my work with leaders, I ask this question more often than they’d like.
Why? Because it’s the very question that marks the difference between doing and being. Between performing and connecting. Between a CV and a legacy.

Most leaders first come to me with questions like:

➤ “How can I find more peace of mind?”

Good questions.
But rarely the real ones.

Real leadership begins when you're willing to go deeper.
Not in level. But in depth.

Layer 1: SEE – Become aware of your autopilot

We live in a world that rewards speed.
Busy people seem important.
But beneath that speed, there’s often something else:


Many leaders have been taught to be strong. Efficient. Untouchable.
But beneath that surface is something deeply human:


The desire to matter. Without the mask. Without the role.

And that’s where meaningful leadership begins.
By daring to look.
At what you do.
And why.

Layer 2: SLOW DOWN – Make space for real reflection

I once worked with a CEO—we’ll call him Jan.
On paper, he had it all: status, influence, a world-class network.
But behind closed doors, there was something else.

Jan was tired.
Not from the workload, but from the game.
Always performing. Always pleasing.
Until I asked him two questions:

Because those weren’t the questions he usually asked himself.
He thought in targets. In deadlines.
But these questions invited him to take off the mask.

It took a while, but then the answer came.
Not in a PowerPoint. But in his eyes.
His true self showed up.
He wanted to make an impact on families like his own—with a son on the autism spectrum.
He changed course.
Not because he failed, but because he finally became loyal to himself.

Layer 3: CHOOSE – Build your legacy, intentionally

Legacy sounds like something big.
But really, it’s nothing more—and nothing less—than what remains of you.

Not in annual reports.
But in the stories people tell about you.
In what you spark.
In how you listen.
In how people feel after working with you.

Conscious Legacy is the essence of meaningful leadership:


Making conscious choices every day that align with your core and your values.

That takes courage.
Not to do more—but to move honestly in the direction of what feels right.

You don’t need to have all the answers right away.
But even asking the question starts to shift something.

So don’t be afraid to slow down.
